Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has reached another impressive box office milestone, grossing over $600 million worldwide following a fantastic Thanksgiving holiday for the critically acclaimed sequel.
Marvel’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” is having no trouble staying above the competition at the Thanksgiving box office, even handily trouncing fellow Disney release “Strange World.” After bringing in $8.1 million on Thanksgiving, the superhero sequel exploded on Friday, adding $18.2 million more in ticket sales to its haul. “Wakanda Forever” is the only resounding box office success story this season, on target to push beyond a $350 million domestic gross through Sunday.
We've already heard that Disney plans to push back Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's streaming debut to maximise box office revenue, and with little in the way of competition until Avatar: The Way of Water arrives, that's a smart decision.
The reviews from the film critics and fans alike have been especially positive as movie-goers continue to turn out for the film. This is a great film that does have it's flaws, specifically its length. This was a heavy film that has a lot of deep meaning and themes that might go over the general audience's head. The performances and costumes were fantastic. The buzz also has a great deal of respect for thework Ryan Coogler turned in for a challenging effort that may define his career. “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” is over 80% “fresh” on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Critics said the film has an “overly busy” plot, but is a poignant tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, who portrayed T'Challa.
One surprise plot segment highlighted the powerful and alluring Okoye (pictured below).
