Each of them have recently passed on but their impression will be felt forever in Hollywood. Can you name each of them and the films they starred in?
These actors (Pictured above) played iconic characters in landmark gangster films.
To the left is the star of Goodfellas. It ranks as the third best gangster film of all time. It might just be Martin Scorsese's finest two hours and change, this swirling, relentlessly paced crime classic that served up a feast of salty dialogue (we all have our favorite quotes) and, in turn, directly inspired both The Sopranos and Quentin Tarantino's on-the-horizon game-changers. It's not a stretch to call Goodfellas the most significant movie of the last 30 years. It's certainly the most fun.
The message in this movie is clear: Loyalty & Belonging.
The most important value in the mafia is loyalty. The movie illustrates the theme of loyalty and its importance very clearly. From the first time that Henry gets "pinched" by the cops, he keeps his mouth shut and doesn't rat anyone out. Its a brutal film that is epic in its size, scope and historical relevance. The lead character became a household name after this film was released. Who is he?
The middle image above is another star of Goodfellas, the story of a young man who grows up in the mob and works very hard to advance himself through the ranks. He enjoys his life of money and luxury, but is oblivious to the horror that he causes. A drug addiction and a few mistakes ultimately unravel his climb to the top. Based on the book "Wiseguy" by Nicholas Pileggi.
The image on the right is one of the stars from The Godfather; widely regarded as the best gangster film ever and one of the greatest films of all time, this mob drama, based on Mario Puzo's novel of the same name, focuses on the powerful Italian-American crime family of Don Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando).
When the don's youngest son, Michael (Al Pacino), reluctantly joins the Mafia, he becomes involved in the inevitable cycle of violence and betrayal. Although Michael tries to maintain a normal relationship with his wife, Kay (Diane Keaton), he is drawn deeper into the family business.
